Copyright basics for MusicBox uploaders

Copyright basics for MusicBox uploaders

Plain-language guidance on ownership, permission, takedowns, and why MusicBox reviews uploads before publishing.

Copyright protects original music, lyrics, and artwork. On MusicBox, uploaders must confirm they own the rights or have permission to host and stream the content they submit. That promise is part of our Terms of Service and is enforced through moderation.

Owning a CD or playlist download does not automatically give you the right to re-upload it. Covers and remixes often need permission from the original rights holders. Beat leases and sample packs usually come with specific licence terms — read them before uploading.

If you believe a track on MusicBox infringes your rights, email legal@musicboxzm.com with the page URL, a description of the work, and proof of ownership or representation. We aim to respond promptly and will remove or restrict content when a valid claim is confirmed.

We review uploads before public listing to reduce clear infringement and low-quality spam. Review is not a legal guarantee, and rights holders remain free to contact us. Repeated abuse or bad-faith uploads can lead to account suspension.

Respecting copyright protects artists’ income and keeps MusicBox eligible for advertising partners and long-term hosting. When in doubt, do not upload — ask the rights holder first, or publish only music you created yourself.
